Wyre Council releases festive interactive digital trail in Fleetwood
Wyre Council has released its festive interactive digital trail in Fleetwood once again so that families can play along and help Nic Clause find his way this Christmas.
Funded by Historic England’s ‘Heritage Action Zone fund’, the trail is part of the range of Discover Wyre trails available on the Wyre AR app. Players can download the app for free and enjoy following it around Fleetwood’s attractions and historic sights using the markers provided.
The trail follows the story of Nic Clause who is enjoying his stay in Fleetwood. He has arrived for a peaceful holiday with his brother before the busiest time of the year, until something happens that puts all his hard work at risk. Now he needs your help to save Christmas before it’s too late.
Designed to complement Fleetwood’s festive activities, families have five unique and exciting Augmented Reality (AR) experiences to discover, and puzzles to solve to help Nic Clause and save Christmas.
Once the app is downloaded, players can use their phone to follow the trail story by scanning the QR code on snowflake markers found at various locations across the town, launch a different AR challenge at each location and collect something at every stop.
With an original story, bespoke illustration and a uniquely Fleetwood feel, it’s a great way to try something a little different this festive season.
Councillor Lynne Bowen, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Health and Community Engagement at Wyre Council comments, “When the app launched last December, it was great to see people out and about in Fleetwood having fun and discovering all that the town has to offer during the festive season.
“We hope more families download the app this year and enjoy the amazing AR experience the app has to offer”.
