Tourism conference will launch new tourism website for Pendle
A new website to promote Pendle to tourists will be launched at the annual tourism conference on Monday 17th October at the ACE Centre, Nelson.
“Pendle’s tourism website www.visitpendle.com has had a major re-design to attract more visitors to our area,” announced Pendle’s leader for tourism, Councillor Eileen Ansar.
“The new visitpendle.com will make it easier for people to plan visits and see what our stunning area has to offer,” she explained.
“It’s also a fantastic website for local people to use, who are lucky enough to live in beautiful Pendle,” Eileen added.
Tourism businesses and other delegates at Pendle’s tourism conference will get to meet Richard Ault from web designers New Mind to find out how the new responsive website will help boost tourism in the area.
“The improved website fits into the theme for this year’s conference: Going for Gold, inspired by Pendle’s double gold medallist Steven Burke,” explained Tourism Officer Mike Williams.
“The focus of the conference is on aiming high, with speakers from top tourism businesses sharing advice on how they started and developed their successful businesses,” added Mike.
“Tourism is worth £106 million to Pendle each year and we need to make the most of the huge assets Pendle has to develop our growing visitor economy,” he stressed.
A packed programme at the conference will give tourism businesses the chance to discuss important tourism themes such as how cultural tourism can help the visitor economy both regionally and locally.
Andrew Palmer from Creative Tourist and Paul Hartley and Kerry Morrison from local arts partnership In-Situ talk will lead discussions on how cultural tourism has huge potential to boost the visitor economy, regionally and locally.
Any tourism businesses in Pendle who’d like to sign up for the free conference can contact Mike via [email protected] or call him on 01282 661963.
Other speakers include Nick Mead of the Lady Teal wide-beam hotel boat, which last year won the Lancashire Tourism Award for best Tourism Experience, will be telling delegates how he aimed high and achieved.
And Tom Wilkinson, Business Development Director of award winning Seafood Pub Food Company who’ve built a successful business portfolio in Pendle with The Barley Mow , Roaming Roosters, The Alma, and the newly opened The Forest Inn, Fence.
The conference is part of the free Pendle Business Week organised by the Pendle Vision Board and Pendle Council.
Other workshops at Pendle Business Week of interest to tourism and other businesses include ones on starting your own business, marketing online and an introduction to using social media.
