The Strictly Tourism Ticket
Tickets for the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2014, the only awards exclusively focused on and celebrating the county’s £3.5billion visitor economy businesses, go on sale today (Friday 3 October) just as exciting details of what’s in store for Lancashire’s most prestigious tourism event start to emerge.
Marketing Lancashire, organisers of the annual awards, revealed today that the Guest Presenter of the 2014 awards will be esteemed journalist and broadcaster John Sergeant – who also delighted audiences in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing competition in 2008. The Lancashire Tourism Awards 2014 will take place in The Blackpool Tower’s stunning ballroom, on Thursday 6 November to mark the Lancashire landmark’s 120th Anniversary, shortly before this year’s Strictly Come Dancing contestants take to its world famous dance floor.
“I’m so pleased to be heading back to Blackpool to present the Lancashire Tourism Awards” said John Sergeant “It’s a place that holds many good memories for me; a place with genuine historic and political significance, as well as being the country’s favourite seaside resort. I’m especially looking forward to celebrating The Tower’s 120th anniversary with Lancashire’s leading tourism businesses and to stepping into Blackpool Tower’s amazing ballroom – without having had to dance my way there!”
Now in its 11th year, the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2014 has received more entries than ever before and attracted University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), Virgin Trains and Blackpool & The Fylde College as Headline Sponsors. The ceremony is a black tie event with drinks reception, three course dinner and live entertainment – with elements of surprise. Tickets are priced from £55, with tables of 10 from £495, which can be purchased from www.lancashiretourismawards.co.uk
Ruth Connor, Chief Executive of Marketing Lancashire commenting on the awards said
“The response to the Lancashire Tourism Awards this year has been phenomenal with incredible support from our three headline sponsors University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), Virgin Trains and Blackpool & The Fylde College, as well as from an array of local businesses sponsoring each of our award categories.
“To announce John Sergeant as our Guest Presenter, one of the country’s most renowned political journalists and a much-loved participant in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, is only adding to our excitement as we draw nearer to this unique celebration of Lancashire’s tourism talent.”
