Taste Lancashire at Buyers Event
As the sun shone on the parkland outside Haigh Hall on Tuesday 5 March, inside, local producers and buyers were preparing to ‘talk shop’ at a Made in Lancashire Meet the Local Producer event.
Marketing Lancashire had a good presence on the day, through their Taste Lancashire RDPE Defra funded campaign aimed at supporting local rural producers, which has seen Marketing Lancashire at a wide variety of events over the last 15 months. The producers at Haigh Hall offered tasting opportunites and provided an introduction to the range and quality of produce available locally.
Some of Lancashire’s finest meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, crisps, ice-creams and preserves were there to tempt the taste buds. . This busy and productive day saw approximately 80 buyers from across the hospitality and food industry in attendance, all hoping to find new locally based suppliers. Even the odd walker, enjoying the first signs of spring in the park surrounding the hall, was seduced by the aromas of this wonderful selection of food and came in for a taste.
Made in Lancashire event organiser Ella Trickett commenting said " The exhibition has been an affordable way for the smaller producers to meet buyers of all sizes, and knowing that everyone has gathered a number of new leads that will generate into new business means the aim of the exhibition has been achieved, so it has been a great success all round. The exhibition was also supported by Taste Lancashire, which helped to reinforce the message to businesses about the benefits of locally sourced produce."
Marketing Lancashire has also made it easier for buyers to source their food and drink closer to home by developing a new online Source and Supply Directory. These dedicated webpages are increasingly popular and are fast becoming an invaluable resource for buyers as well as consumers, interested in quality and provenance.
Lancashire’s rural producers who do not currently feature in the directory are invited to get in touch with Marketing Lancashire to discuss a FREE listing. Lancashire food related stories and events can also be promoted via the food and drink web pages.
