Summer family fun at Rufford Old Hall

17 July 2015

Rufford Old Hall, Nr Ormskirk: Sat 1st – Mon 31st August 2015

Rufford Old Hall will be opening its doors for an extra day of family fun this August.

Summer isn’t just about exploring: from archery to snail racing and discovering the Tudors there’s lots of fun activities the whole family can get involved with.

Meet Lord and Lady Hesketh and learn about life at Rufford Old Hall, get up close to some slithery reptiles or try a trail around the house – these are just some of the fun packed activities planned this summer.
If you’re feeling energetic, try our ‘50 things to do before you’re 11 and ¾’ challenge. Catherine Hazley Visitor Experience Officer said “So far we’ve had  loads of children along with mums, dads and grandparents taking part in everything from den building to bug hunting and creating a woodland trail with sticks – so there’s plenty of activities to enjoy.”

For something a bit calmer how about settling down to our summer outdoor theatre performances? We end the outdoor theatre season with Twelfth Night: join the Lord Chamberlain's Men on Wednesday 26 August to see Shakespeare's best-loved romantic comedy – a joyous tale of love, longing and laughter and mischief, mayhem and mistaken identity, set in ‘fair Illyria’. Performed in the open air, by an all-male cast in full Elizabethan costume, with traditional music and dance, this is undoubtedly one of the hottest tickets of the summer!

The performance starts at 7pm. Tickets in advance £10 (£14 on the night). Limited capacity – early booking highly recommended. 01704 821254 or www.nationaltrust.org.uk/ruffordoldhall
