Success at this year’s Lancashire Innovation Festival
The inaugural Lancashire Innovation Festival has seen more than 650 delegates attend the wide range of virtual events so far. And with two weeks to go, there is still plenty more to get involved in.
The nine events that have taken place so far as part of the Lancashire Innovation Festival’s month of online events, focussed on showcasing the region’s innovation, have attracted over 650 delegates. A theme around people being one of the most innovative and important factors within a business has emerged from the panellists across universities, regional projects, public sector and private business that have spoken so far.
With the sessions being free and online, and people not having to travel has meant the festival has had an attendance rate of more than 70%, marking it a success in driving forward the importance of promoting innovation within Lancashire.
With another 22 events taking place over the next few weeks there is still plenty of debate to be had. With many businesses working remotely and employees working from home, it is good to actively participate in events like this, and network remotely with colleagues and other business professionals.
Commenting on the Innovation Festival Dan Knowles, Festival Co-Ordinator says;
Having a range of virtual events has meant that as a region we’ve been able to pull together a wider variety of topics, debates and discussions than we would have got though in one or two days. The content and passion from the contributors has driven lively and in-depth conversations and unearthed some key themes. One being that people are key to innovation across the region.”
Maya Ellis, Innovation and Digital Lead at LCC, adds;
“The Lancashire Innovation Festival has crystallised the variety and depth of truly inpirational innovation across the region. Having the events online as made them more accessible for those across the region, and wider. I am delighted that so many people have got involved, from both the speaker and panels and those watching – there really had been some lively debates and discussions which we want to continue through the work of the Innovation Board.”
With two weeks still to go, Dan adds;
“We have an intense two weeks of events, from how to finance innovation, Meditech and NHS innovation, to Quantum technologies and cyber innovation. Each session is an hour enabling participants to dip on and out over the final two weeks of the series.”
Supported by Lancashire County Council, the month concludes on 29th October with A Vision of the Future for Lancashire, hosted by the Chair of the Innovation Board, Professor Graham Baldwin.
