Street food festival heads to Fishergate
The tastiest food craze in the world is coming to Preston for the first time this month.
The Fishergate Street Food Festival will bring sensational flavours from around the world to the city in a three day celebration of great eats and fantastic snacks.
Running from November 19 – 21 at the Fishergate Shopping Centre, the street food festival is set to take the city by storm and, if popular, could become Preston’s premier annual street food extravaganza.
Sophia Gray, retail liaison manager for the Fishergate Shopping Centre, said: “Bringing new experiences to Preston is something we feel passionate about. And street food is the hottest food craze in the UK right now.
“Supporting independent operators who are also passionate about what they are doing, the food they are making and providing a new taste experience for our shoppers, commuters and office workers all over the city is something everyone at the Fishergate Centre is really excited about.”
Food and leisure are set to become an increasingly important part of the Fishergate Centre offer. In September, plans were formally submitted for a £25 million revamp of the centre looking to provider bigger and better stores, a food court and a cinema.
Those plans will be considered by Preston City Council in the New Year and, if approved, could see work beginning on site early in 2016.
Keith Mitchell, manager of the Fishergate Shopping Centre, added: “Bringing a street food festival to Preston is all part of the centre’s aim to play its part in helping to revitalise the city centre.
“It’s just one of many initiatives we have planned for the coming months to encourage people to spend and enjoy more time in the centre and the city.
“The ambitious new plans we are currently progressing through the planning process will also go a long way in helping to reinforce the city’s vitality and viability – building its early evening and mid-market leisure economy is a key part of that.”
