Stanley House is placed amongst best in Britain

A Lancashire hotel has been named one of the nation’s best, following inclusion in the Sunday Times’ Ultimate 100 British Hotels 2014.
Stanley House Hotel and Spa, Mellor was reviewed and selected from destinations across the UK and is the only Lancashire hotel to make the cut.
The Times prize list, now in its second year, awards establishments for character, good service, comfort and value.
The lavish list places Stanley House among Raymond Blancs’s Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons, nationally acclaimed Pig on the Beach, Dorset and host of the Ryder Cup 2014, Gleneagles, Scotland.
The list also placed Stanley House in the top five for the ultimate spa destination. Following her visit, the specialist reviewer said the former Manor House is a prime location to ‘check in and chill out’ and stated ‘traditionalists will like the mullioned windows and open fires of the grade II listed manor. Others will prefer the 18 contemporary Woodland rooms. But everyone will love the spa.’
The reviewer went on to complement the location ‘the thermal suite is surrounded by a pond where ducks chase between the reeds, and the slopes of the Ribble Valley provide a soothing backdrop.’
Stanley House Hotel and Spa is set in 54 acres of Ribble Valley countryside. The 17th Century listed building has been transformed over the last ten years to offer 30 world-class bedrooms, stylish dining facilities and a multi-million pound spa designed by renowned consultants, Howard Spa Consulting.
The Spa features five spacious treatment rooms offering a selection of world class treatments from luxury organic line, ila and the prestigious Natura Bissé from Barcelona, a favourite among celebrities and top dermatologists.
