Shopping Centre is supporting Rock FM’s annual ‘Mission Christmas’ campaign
Freeport Fleetwood is inviting customers to spread the festive spirit this Christmas by donating gifts to the radio station’s Cash for Kids charity. The campaign, targeted at disadvantaged children across the region, aims to ensure no child wakes up on Christmas morning without a present.
The appeal is set to put a smile on the faces of thousands of children this Christmas morning and give donors a warm, fuzzy, festive feeling to boot. From the 16th November shoppers will be able to drop new and unused gifts into any of the designated Mission Christmas stations across the centre. Alternatively they can also donate cash into one of the many collection boxes. All gifts are graciously welcomed and will be given to children and teenagers up to 18 years-old. Examples of items requested in previous years include toys, children’s clothes, chocolate, beauty sets and sportswear.
Nikki Thompson, Charity Manager Cash for Kids says: “It’s clear that Freeport Fleetwood really gets into the festive spirit and is a great local Christmas shopping destination; it just seemed like the perfect fit for Mission Christmas. We want to make this year’s campaign the best one ever so are urging everyone to pop down to Freeport to donate a gift. Christmas is a magical time of year and that should be the case for all children. Picking up an extra stocking filler when you’re doing your shopping takes little effort but can make a world of difference to the disadvantaged youths in our community on Christmas morning.”
With a jam packed Christmas schedule, including an exciting Christmas lights switch-on on Thursday 19th September, Freeport Fleetwood is on track to welcome thousands of eager shoppers through its doors this season. Centre Manager John Magee thinks its involvement in Mission Christmas will only add to the festivities and create even more of a buzz:
“We’re so pleased to be partnering with Rock FM on this worthwhile campaign. Christmas is our favourite time of year by far; there’s such a fun, festive atmosphere around the centre and it is transformed with sparkly lights, decorations, trees and mulled wine. But in all the madness and chaos of the season it’s nice to take a moment to think about families in our community who might not have as much to look forward to this Christmas. By picking up an extra gift at the till point, our shoppers will be doing their bit to spread some cheer to those who need it the most. Plus who can resist that warm, fuzzy feeling you get with Christmas gift giving?”
Anyone wishing to donate should drop their unused, unwrapped gifts off at Freeport Fleetwood after the 16th November 2015. The centre will be running a series of festive activities in the run up to Christmas and should stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter for updates.
