Picnic sites photography competition launched
PHOTOGRAPHS of the county’s best picnic sites are wanted for a new competition organised by Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board.
For Taste Lancashire 08 – the Year of Food and Drink, the tourist board is designating the whole of August as Picnic Month and as part of the promotion it is looking for the public to submit picnic site pictures to the photography sharing website www.flickr.com.
A group has been set up on the website to show off the best of Lancashire, letting people admire the best spots to picnic and encourage local produce to be enjoyed at those sites. The group page can be found at www.flickr.com/groups/lancashirepicnic.
Winners will be chosen for each of the following categories:
Teddy Bears Picnic
The Best Picnic Spot in Lancashire
Enjoying Lancashire Produce
An overall winner, chosen from the three category winners, will be treated to a meal for two at any one of the county’s 100 plus Taste Lancashire accredited restaurants to the value of £100; while each category winner receives a luxury Lancashire produce hamper.
All images uploaded will be judged at the end of July. Comments and votes on the images uploaded will also be taken into consideration.
Taste Lancashire 08 is a year-long campaign developed in partnership with Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture celebrations and features a wide range of food events, activities and promotions with the spotlight on quality.
