Oyster & Otter hosts volunteering celebration
The Oyster & Otter in Feniscowles played host to Community & Business Partners’ (CBP) fundraising lunch and celebratory event during National Volunteers’ Week.
CBP, winners of the CSR award at this year’s Hive Awards, wanted to mark National Volunteers’ Week by celebrating the impact volunteers have on their organisation and thank them for their valuable contribution to the local community.
Guests at the event enjoyed a lunch prepared by chefs at the Oyster & Otter before compere Rachel Haslam, founder and director of award-winning Team Academy, spoke and led an auction with prizes including a signed Burnley FC shirt and tickets to see Elton John.
BBC commentator Mark Lawrenson, who attended the event, also donated tickets for four people to watch Football Focus being filmed at Media City in Salford.
“National Volunteers’ Week fits perfectly with our ethos of helping commercial enterprises flourish and encouraging greater corporate social responsibility, environmental awareness and social enterprise,” said Amanda Meachin, CEO at Community & Business Partners.
“This event was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the voluntary efforts of so many individuals and businesses across Lancashire. We would like to thank all of our guests for attending, and the many businesses who generously donated prizes to our raffle and auction, as well as the Oyster & Otter for wonderful food, drink and hospitality. We raised well over £2,000 on the day and this will be used by Charities@SAMS to support a wide range of local charities.”
Charities@SAMS supports over 30 local charities, community and neighbourhood groups and good causes across Pennine Lancashire.
“We were delighted to play our part in the success of the fundraising event and to hear so many inspirational stories of the wide range of voluntary work people do in our local community,” said Iain McTavish, general manager at the Oyster & Otter.
