Northcote Wins National Wine Award
Northcote, Lancashire wins national recognition at the AA Hospitality Awards winning the ‘AA England Wine Award 2013-14’ in association with T&W Wines at the ceremony held last evening (Monday 23rd September) at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
The award recognises an outstanding contribution to promoting wine understanding and appreciation whilst demonstrating a high quality wine list and the ability to inspire customers to a wider and more adventurous choice in selecting wines.
Commenting on the award Craig Bancroft FIH MI, Managing Director of Northcote said, “The award means a great deal to me personally and all the wine team. To be recognised by the industry at this level is such an honour and a great achievement. It truly reflects all the hard work and research that we have carried out these past 24 months to ensure we offer our customers a great selection of wines whilst dining with us.”
The wine team comprises of Craig Bancroft FIH MI (Managing Director of Northcote); Nick Adams MW (First Glass Wine Services); Julian Kaye (Owner of Wine Merchant, Wright Wine Company) and Adam Pawlowski (Head Sommelier of Northcote) which was established to have a dedicated team to develop, review and constantly improve the wine offering at Northcote.
Northcote’s Gourmet and Tasting menus offer customers the finest experience of food and wine matching at its best. The wine team work closely with Nigel Haworth (Chef Patron of Northcote) and Lisa Allen (Head Chef of Northcote) to ensure the wines marry with the seasonal menus.
Nick Adams MW, First Class Service on behalf of the Wine Team said, “It is very rewarding to have this formally recognised by this prestigious award from the AA – and be championed ahead of the many other outstanding wine lists in England. There is no such thing as the perfect wine list and we will not be resting on our laurels because of this award. In fact it provides further motivation to keep up the reviews and work even harder to ensure the wine list remains dynamic and enticing.”
Commenting on his relationship with Northcote, Julian Kaye, The Wright Wine Company said, “We enjoy a unique and rewarding relationship with Northcote. There are very few Michelin starred restaurants that put their faith in one wine supplier, however it has proven to be a great success. In order to maintain this success we continue to meet on a regular basis to review the list region by region thus ensuring we maintain what we believe to be the highest of standards.”
The award joins recent recognition by the Wine Spectator, Restaurant Wine List and a Bronze Award in the ‘Small Hotel of the Year’ by VisitEngland. In March of this year Craig Bancroft FIH MI was awarded the special Association of Portuguese Wine Importers (APWI) Award at The Ambassadors Residence, Embassy of Portugal, London the home of the ambassador his excellency Dr Joao de Vallera.
