North West Labour Party Returns to Blackpool
VisitBlackpool announces that the North West Labour Party (NWLP) will be returning to the resort for its annual conference from the 5th -6th November 2016.
This is the sixth year the NWLP has headed to Blackpool and up to seven hundred delegates and visitors are expected to attend the two-day event. Key note speakers include Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell and Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner, Cllr Simon Blackburn, Leader of Blackpool Council will open this year’s conference.
For the first time since coming to the resort this year’s conference will be held at the new location, Blackpool’s Hilton Hotel.
VisitBlackpool Tourism Manager, Mandy Tythe-McCallum said, “I’m delighted to be welcoming the party back on what will be its sixth consecutive year.
The NWLP is an important conference on our business tourism calendar and is testament to Blackpool that’ its consistent growth and regeneration has not gone unnoticed.
We work incredibly hard to attract conference and event organisers, and political events such as the NWLP annual conference are incredibly important to us.”
Business tourism in Blackpool represents an average of £50 million in economic benefit to businesses in the resort each year.
In July this year Blackpool announced its plans for a new state of the art conference venue adjoining the Winter Gardens on the former car park site on Leopold Grove. The new-build venue will include a conference hall for 2000+ delegates, a 1200sqm exhibition hall and break out spaces as well as catering facilities.
Cllr Simon Blackburn, Leader of Blackpool Council added: “I’m delighted to welcome back the NWLP, it’s great news for Blackpool.
This year I will personally open the conference to delegates. I’m honoured to be asked to welcome the delegates to the resort. The two-day conference is a major financial boost for the local economy and it also represents an opportunity to showcase our resort.”

Members from across the North West will be joining us in Blackpool for the weekend as well as key Labour party figures and MPs including the shadow Chancellor John McDonnell.”
