New President for Lancaster and District Chamber
Mal Garnett was recently appointed as the new President of the Lancaster and District Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), replacing Alistair Eagles who had presided over the presidency for the last two years. The AGM was held at the Best Western Lothersdale Hotel, which also features multi-award-winning Aspects Bar and Bistro, in Morecambe.
Mal Garnett, who runs Apparatus Marketing, speaking after the AGM, Alistair said: “I am honoured to have become President after Alistair. He has taken the Chamber to new heights and seen the membership increase significantly in his two years at the helm.
“This area is on the cusp of achieving something pretty special. Not only do we have the University of Lancaster’s Health Innovation Hub nearing completion, the Lancaster Quarter bubbling away but we also have the very real prospect of a world-famous ecological and environmental development, in the form of the Eden Project, getting closer to reality in Morecambe. This will really put us on the international map.
“Jointly we need to tell the world about what a great place this is to live, to learn, to work, to stay, and to play. The North Lancashire EXPO running for its third consecutive year on the 20th and 21st September is going to be a fantastic showcase for this area and spaces are filling up fast so book quickly if you want to attend. The Chamber continues to go from strength-to-strength, and we have a healthy membership base of over 450 around the District.”
Vicky Lofthouse, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, also added: “It is great to see the Chamber’s board strengthened with a more diverse business base and the appointment of Mal as President. I’d also like to thank outgoing President Alistair Eagles for his two years of great service as President, and his continuing support as an Ambassador Member of the Chamber.”
