National restaurant chain all set to open in Chorley
National restaurant chain Loungers is all set to open the doors of its Calico Lounge in Chorley town centre.
Expected to open on 15 January 2020, the Calico Lounge will occupy the stand-alone unit within the Market Walk extension on Union Street and will create 25 jobs for local people.
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council, said: “We are thrilled to welcome another exciting business to our town. Not only are these new additions to our town having a positive impact on town centre footfall, they are also creating jobs for local people.”
Loungers will bring a unique restaurant/café/bar offering to Chorley, creating an informal environment where families, friends can go for a coffee, a drink or something to eat in relaxed and quirky surroundings. The retro-inspired Calico Lounge will focus on families, with a range of food and drink to suit everyone, things to keep children entertained as well as a menu for little loungers and baby facilities.
The Calico Lounge is committed to making a difference to the community and plan to support local charities and hold regular fundraising events.
David Matthews, Operations Manager, said “We’re really looking forward to throwing open the doors at Calico Lounge.
“The team are looking forward to becoming part of the community and will support local groups and initiatives wherever possible. Our partnered charity is the Derian House Children’s Hospice. We will support the incredible work they do by donating 20p from each coffee sold and 50p from each burger sold in our first month of trading.”
Calico Lounge is the latest addition to the Market Walk extension, following M&S Foodhall, Reel Cinema and Escape Entertainment Venue who all opened at the end of 2019. The arrival of these businesses is already having a positive impact footfall. Around 40,000 visitors passed through Market Walk and the town centre in the two days prior to Christmas Day 2019 which is the highest recorded since 2016.
