Lancashire HotShots heads to Darwen
Blackburn-born Chef takes over the kitchen
Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board’s (LBTB’s) popular Lancashire HotShots initiative is heading to Darwen for an evening to remember at MJs restaurant at the Whitehall Hotel, recently awarded the Taste Lancashire Highest Quality Assured Award.
Taking over the kitchen on Thursday March 24th is MJs Sous Chef, 21 year old Dominic Taylor, who has been part of the team for 18 months. Dominic’s brother Ben, also a chef at Astley Bank, inspired him to attend Blackburn College where he achieved his Level 3 NVQ in Catering. He worked locally before joining MJs in 2009 and worked his way up from Commis Chef to his current position Sous Chef.
“I am enjoying my time here at MJs and am delighted that I was involved on the evening we received our Taste Lancashire Highest Quality award” says Dominic “The award and the Lancashire Hotshot event will enable me to contribute to the ongoing plans for MJs and our aim to establish the restaurant as a premier dining venue for the area.
Of course, ultimately, I would like to lead my own team and who knows that may be here at MJs. I am a Blackburn lad who is passionate about cooking and I have no desire to move further afield. I’m inspired by the wealth of produce that we have on our doorstep and am keen to help raise the profile of the Pennine Lancashire dining scene.”
Dominic’s Lancashire HotShot menu will be available on Thursday March 24th at a cost of £20 per person. To book call MJs direct on 01254 704986. All welcome – early booking advised.
