Lancashire businesses urged to apply for Queen’s Award
Lancashire business leaders gathered this week to discover how The Queen's Awards for Enterprise could help to take their company to the next level.
A number of past winners spoke at the event at Brockholes near Preston on Monday night to tell how receiving the UK's most prestigious business award had helped their firm to stand out from the crowd and open the door to new opportunities.
They included Nick Dykins of Slingco, Charles Hadcock of Roach Bridge Tissue, Tony Attard of Panaz and Tony Holt of Linemark.
The panel also included Glenn Dale from the Queens Awards Office who offered advice on the application process and Mandy Lockett from East Lancs Chamber of Commerce who spoke about how the award could help companies to access international markets.
Hosts Creative Lancashire are hoping the event will inspire a fresh flurry of applications to this year's awards before the closing date of 1 September.
Charles Hadcock, also a Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire and Chair of the Creative Lancashire board, said: "We're proud that Lancashire is home to so many creative and successful businesses who could make strong applications to the Queen's Awards for Enterprise.
"Winners have found the award a very valuable mark of quality which is recognised worldwide, and helps to market and increase the value of their business, as well as being something that everyone who works for them can take pride in.
"I'm glad that so many people came along to find out more about the Queens Awards and hope that hearing the success stories of past Lancashire winners will have encouraged them to apply."
