House of Commons Get A Taste of Lancashire
A Preston brewed real ale will be served in the House of Commons, Strangers’ Bar from 8th September 2014 for one week only.
Preston MP, Mark Hendrick nominated the cask ale to be featured in the House of Commons Bar following a visit to the micro-brewery Hart Brewery in December last year. The Strangers’ Bar normally offers two cask ales when parliament is sitting and one of these can be a specific cask ale from their own MP’s constituency.
The ale named ‘Lancashire Best’ is described by the brewer’s as ‘a premier golden full flavoured ale’. Harts have been brewing in Preston for the last three years and its ales are available in Preston’s locals including the Old Black Bull, the Dog and Partridge, the Old Vic, the Moor Brook and the Adelphi Pub and now for one week only in the historic Strangers’ Bar.
Mark Hendrick said: “I am delighted that a Preston real ale will be on tap at the Strangers’ Bar. This is a unique opportunity to show what Lancashire and Preston in particular, can produce whilst raising the profile of local brewers and the range of ales and beers that are on offer in our region.’
John Smith, Managing Director said: ‘We are very honoured that Mark has chosen to nominate one of our ales to be put on tap at the Houses of Parliament. We are grateful to him and appreciative of the work he has done to get us some recognition. We are proud of Preston and we are proud that our Preston ale is being sampled by MP’s in London. We do get a lot of support from landlords across the country but we would really like it if local landlords from in and around Preston and Lancashire would support us too and have a look at what we have to offer.’
