Heart of James Places re-opens after refurbishment
The Emporium re-opened on Thursday 23rd July after a much anticipated refurbishment. The property had been closed for 11 days from Monday 13th July. Standing in the heart of Clitheroe and arranged over three floors, it includes a café, wine bar, brasserie and home décor store. Part of the James' Places group it was the first property in what is now a 9 strong group of hotels and pubs, purchased back in 2003.
Much of The Emporium refurbishment took place behind the scenes in the kitchen and cellars, however the new vibrant colour palette added to the interior walls is a marked change apparent for all to see . A completely new bar has been installed, new furniture and soft furnishings have been added to give a breath of fresh air to the building – all of which are provided by the Emporium Interiors. In line with the original concept the decorative features are all priced tagged, so there's sure to be something you'll just have to have both on and off the menu.
The front of the building has also been enhanced by the addition of two sets of bi-fold windows, perfect for those summer evenings, should the sun decide to show its face!
Mel Cliff, General Manager of The Emporium commented on the change:
“The Emporium was the first of our places and as such holds a very special place in our hearts. Like any building that's well used, it takes its bumps and knocks, and general wear and tear. With the Food Festival coming up, and the influx of people that brings to the town, we wanted to take the opportunity to give our presentation a refresh so that we can showcase the building at it's best for locals and visitors alike!”
To complete the opening 18 year local singer/songwriter Grace Davies performed a live set from 8pm, her stunning voice only adding to what was a really relaxed, enjoyable night.
The next live music event is on Thursday 20th August 2015 from 8pm. The beautiful and talented singer Charlese Allen first burst onto the music scene in an early series of The X Factor. Since then the Lancashire songbird has developed her craft alongside Bobby, their set involves all the classic ingredients jazz, soul, folk, blues and funk.
