Get on board a magical history tour

17 July 2015

Amateur actors, confident speakers and those who love to share their passion for local history are being recruited to take part as tour guides in this year's Blackburn Heritage Festival.  Organisers are auditioning local people with a flair for dramatic expression and sharing their knowledge to act as costumed tour guides on board vintage buses which will travelling round the town throughout the weekend.

Local producer and stalwart of several theatre groups, Paul Mason has put together the research linked to the routes to provide a commentary for the 'hop on hop off' buses. He explained, 'The guides will  tell the stories behind the places passed. Working from a carefully researched script  guides will inform  passengers about many of the interesting facts of this fascinating industrial town.'

Cumbria Classic Coach lines are providing 4 buses which will take an inner and outer route taking passengers on a magical history tour of hidden Blackburn from Eanam Wharf to Ewood Park and all stops in between including Witton Park, Blackburn Cathedral, Holy Trinity and Corporation Park.

Volunteers will need to be free on either the 12th or 13th of September from 10 until 5 and to be able to make time for rehearsals, briefings and costume fittings at intervals over the summer.
