Countdown for entries to tourism awards
It’s that time again – time for the region’s tourism businesses to put themselves forward for the annual Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) Tourism awards. With 13 categories from Small Hotel of the Year Award to Sustainable Tourism Award, participants find the benefits include increased profile, staff motivation and even new business. Entry to the awards is FREE (certain criteria apply) but completed entries must be received by LBTB, by Monday 16th March 2009.
This year’s awards will take place at Ribby Hall Village, Wrea Green, on Thursday 4 June. Winners of the LBTB Tourism awards go on to represent Lancashire and Blackpool at the England’s Northwest Tourism Awards, with the winners at these awards having the chance to reach a shortlist for the Enjoy England national tourism awards. One such winner, The Beach House in Blackpool, has done just that with national finalists Estelle and Darren Livesey’s five star apartments now going through to the finals on 23 April, in York.
Estelle Livesey commenting on their nomination said “Darren and I couldn’t quite believe it when we received the notification but now it has sunk in we’re extremely proud. Since winning the LBTB award, then the Northwest award we’ve been incredibly busy, with the phone ringing constantly. To get this far is a great personal achievement and we’re just thrilled.”
