Burnley BID looking forward to action-packed year of projects and events
The Burnley Business Improvement District (BID) is looking forward to an action-packed year of projects and events as it aims to build upon the initiatives delivered in 2021.
With COVID-19 restrictions having eased, Burnley BID has been able to pencil in a calendar of activities and business-focused schemes over the coming months to help make the town an even better location to work, live and do business.
The organisation’s Project Manager, Andrew Dean, has revealed more about what is set to take place and when.
“We’re really excited about what’s scheduled to be delivered throughout the remainder of 2022,” said Andy.
“Plans are still in their infancy but there’ll be celebrations for the Queen’s Jubilee in June, a roaring summer event featuring dinosaurs, a classic car show in September, scarily good Halloween activities and festivities at Christmas time. These will all be delivered alongside the monthly artisan markets and we’re also working closely with Burnley Heritage Action Zone to develop plans for a Cultural Festival.”
Burnley BID’s proposals don’t only focus on helping to bring people into the town centre however, with Andy outlining initiatives for supporting their member businesses too in conjunction with landscaping and planting projects.
“We’re now thankfully in a position where training courses can resume so employees of BID businesses will be able to take advantage of these free of charge, and we’re introducing a business mentoring scheme.
“All of this will take place against the backdrop of further investments into planting schemes which include the provision of hanging baskets to town centre businesses who want them, additional railing baskets on Manchester Road and Keirby Walk and a joint project between the BID, Charter Walk, Burnley College and Burnley Council to improve some of the green spaces in the town centre.”
The schedule of activities for 2022 follows on from the successful delivery of Burnley’s Staycation Celebration throughout July and August, Christmas in Burnley which took place over five weekends and a number of campaigns and competitions which encouraged people to shop local.
Everything set to be delivered by Burnley BID will be promoted via their social platforms, which now have over 3,500 followers, the Discover Burnley website and the Discover Burnley Consumer Newsletter.
