Blackpool Transport is celebrating Catch the Bus Month 2024

3 September 2024

Buses are the most accessible form of public transport, connecting millions of us every day to work, education, healthcare, shops, friends and family. They ensure everyone has access to life’s opportunities, including people who are older, younger, disabled or experiencing physical or mental health issues. They are also great for the environment, the economy, our town and city centres and our health and wellbeing.

In celebration of Catch the Bus Month, Blackpool Transport is hosting an all-accessible event on 22nd of September, 10am till 2pm outside Central Pier on the Promenade. Open to everyone, this event offers a chance to get more acquainted with public transport in a welcoming and supportive setting. Attendees can meet the staff, ask questions, and gain confidence, particularly those who may find using public transport challenging. The event aims to make future journeys more comfortable and accessible for all.

Jane Cole, Managing Director of Blackpool Transport said: “Our buses play a crucial role in connecting communities and providing accessible transport for everyone. Our goal with this event is to create a supportive environment where everyone can become more familiar with our services, meet members of our friendly team, and gain the confidence they need to use public transport comfortably.”

Lydia Horbury, Bus Users Director for England said: “We are delighted that Blackpool Transport is supporting this year’s Catch the Bus Month. Buses are accessible, sustainable and affordable, and getting more people on board reduces congestion leading to faster, more reliable bus services. Win-win!”
