Big names lined up for final of the UK Elite Series in Colne

British and world class cyclists will be going up a gear as the grand final of the HSBC UK | National Circuit Series in Colne approaches on Wednesday 26 July.
“Colne Town Council is hosting the final of the men’s elite series for the second year running for what promises to be an action-packed night of high speed racing,” said Chief Executive Officer, Colin Hill.
Last year’s winner and our 2014 winner Graham Briggs, will be racing again for JLT Condor.
He’ll be competing with legendary teammate, triple Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy OBE, who won the Colne Grand Prix in 2011 and 2013.
And last year’s overall elite series champion, Sebastian Moro, a world scratch champion from Spain, will be powering through Colne for Raleigh GAC.
Simon Norton, Head of Marketing at cottages.com explained: “We’ve been headline sponsor of the Colne Grand Prix for the last eight years.
“Cycling is in our DNA as a business and anything we can do to raise the profile of cycling and encourage more people into the pastime is worthwhile”.
“This year for the first time, Mani Cruz, a member of staff from cottages.com, will be competing in the Fort Vale Sprint for Success race. We will be there to cheer him on!” Said Simon.

- 6.15pm Youth Race sponsored by Colne Town Council
- 7pm Sprint for Success race sponsored by Fort Vale Engineering
- 7.40pm Chopper dash tribute to Colne legend Billy Bantam who died tragically in 2015
- 8pm Colne Grand Prix sponsored by cottages.com
Colin Hill added: We hope thousands of people will come into Colne town centre to enjoy a free evening of racing and take advantage of the many pubs, restaurants, takeaways and other businesses which will be open. There’ll be an amazing atmosphere,” he promised.
