Amazing Accrington 2025 events looking to top 30K visitors
#AmazingAccrington have once again been awarded the tender to put on a series of action packed events in 2025, including the Accrington Food Festival, Soapbox Challenge and Lights Switch On – which bring over 30,000 people into the town centre.

2024 saw a fantastic year of events hosted by #AmazingAccrington, including the Soapbox Challenge with a real DeLorean car, Accrington Food Festival with Netflix star Molly Robbins and Michelin starred chef Glynn Purnell, and an outstanding Christmas Light Switch On featuring huge star Martin Kemp performing in Accrington Town Centre.
On Saturday 7th June Accrington Food Festival will be back and so will Molly Robbins and Glynn Purnell, who wowed the crowds last year. There will also be a big celebration of local Lancashire produce, with a wide range of stalls in the town. Alongside the food festival, there will be a war re-enactment to commemorate D-Day and with the potential addition of a flypast as in previous years, this is one not to be missed!
On Saturday 23rd August, the biggest Soapbox Challenge in Lancashire will return to Accrington Town Centre. Last year the challenge saw around 15,000 people flock to the town to enjoy a fantastic day of racing, fun and shopping local. The course featured a sharp turn onto Church Street to add excitement, which may well return!
The Accrington Lights Switch on returns on Thursday 27th November, with special guests yet to be announced, but will have to go some way to top previous years of Junior Andre and Martin Kemp.
Councillor Kimberley Whitehead, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Heritage and Arts for Hyndburn Borough Council, said: “AmazingAccrington run brilliant events which absolutely pack the town centre of Accrington. Every year is bigger and better, so we’re looking forward to what they have planned for this year!”
Cllr Munsif Dad, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council, commented: “To anyone visiting our town for any of the brilliant events being put on by #AmazingAccrington, I urge you to pop and visit our fantastic local businesses around town and in the market, and to shop local. They’re the busiest days of the year!”
Murray Dawson, Chair of #AmazingAccrington, added: “We’re looking forward to another year of incredible events here in Accrington. Every year we are determined to be even better and will be pulling out all the stops to achieve that.
“30,000 visitors into town over the three events is a superb achievement and the team and our key partners should be very proud.
“We are expecting to see even more people coming out and enjoying themselves over the next 12 months. We love flying the flag for Hyndburn with #AmazingAccrington, it makes us very proud to be Accringtonians.”
