Acts and venues wanted for Chorley Live
Organisers of the award-winning, two-day live music and entertainment event, Chorley Live, are encouraging local performers and venues who would like to take part to come forward.
Chorley Council is once again teaming up with the Creative Network to stage Chorley Live, the hit festival that attracts thousands of people to the town centre.
The organisers are looking for a wide variety of musical acts, including bands and solo artists, covering all genres of music but they also want other types of performers, including comedians, dancers, magicians and ventriloquists.
Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, said: “We’re really looking forward to hosting Chorley Live again this year after a three-year break due to the pandemic.
“The event is a real boost to the trade among pubs, clubs and restaurants and we hope that once again it will bring more people into the town centre and show that people can have a great night out in Chorley, without having to spend a lot of money or travel to other towns and cities.
“We want to include a wide variety of performers and it will be important that we have a lot of local acts taking part so they can showcase their talent. I’d urge anyone interested in finding out more to get in touch with us.
“Along with performers for the main Chorley Live event, we are looking for venues who would like to take part this year.”
Those attending can enter the venues using a wristband that costs £5. The wristband can be purchased prior to or at the event, with children under 12 getting free access when accompanied by an adult.
There will be over 280 live performances over the Friday and Saturday evenings and the wide variety of venues, including pubs, libraries, churches and restaurants, means there is something for everyone, including families and young children.
Nigel Stewart from the Creative Network who will be organising the acts said the event brings the town centre alive at night.
“It’s fantastic to see how many businesses are happy to offer themselves as venues, and how it’s bringing companies together to show they are willing to get involved with the event and promote the town,” said Nigel.
“There is a real keenness among the creative industry to get back to taking part in festivals like this and it will also be a real boost for the hospitality industry after what has been a really tough period for them.
“We have had a great response for people wanting to perform, which is testament to how popular the event has become. We’d urge people to get in touch early whether as an act or a venue as we know there will be lots of interest.”
Chorley Live takes place on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 October, with live performances at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm at each venue.
