11,000 welcomed to Chorley at this year’s incredible Chorley Flower Show!
The Chorley Flower Show was back with a bang this year with over 11,000 people in attendance in Astley Park over the three-day show.
Even though the weather was patchy at times – which was great for the plants, flowers, and gardens – the atmosphere was all sunshine with all ages enjoying the fantastic event.
The seventh outing of the award-winning annual show saw professional exhibitors and demonstrations, amateur competitions, show gardens, a range of gardening traders, entertainment, and great food and drink for all the family.
There was also a special unveiling of a Lancashire Life 75th Anniversary Garden designed and planted by brilliant garden designer, Greg Anderton.
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council said, “Wow, what a weekend. The Chorley Flower Show is one of my favourite events and this year’s offering did not disappoint. So much hard work and effort by so many people goes into creating this special event and I am so pleased by the feedback we’ve had – everyone loved it!
“The Flower Show is the flagship event in Chorley’s calendar and it’s a real showstopper, seeing tens of thousands of people coming along to see what Chorley has to offer. Not only does the event get bigger and better each year, but we also see more and more benefits right across the borough with a real boost to the local economy year on year.”
This year’s show also saw the return of the successful music nights and around 700 people attended shows celebrating Irish and Soul music on the Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The backdrop to the incredible event was the amazing Astley Hall fresh from an extensive two-year restoration preserving the Grade II listed building for future generations to enjoy and to enhance the visitor experience. Councillor Bradley continued, “Forget about Chelsea, Chorley is the place to be. We’re a firm favorite now on the horticultural map and already we’re looking to next year and how we can make the show even better.
“We have a brilliant calendar of events and next up is the incredible Chorley Live in October. Plan your next outing now and visit www.checkoutchorley.com.”
