12th Anniversary for Chef
Back in 2005, Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, Bob Geldof staged Live 8 at Hyde Park and Daniel Craig was named as the new James Bond. It was also the year 15-year-old Jordan Hadfield started his career at The Alma Inn in Laneshaw Bridge.
Jordan, originally from Laneshaw Bridge but now living in Barnoldswick, began washing up at the country inn while still at school before enrolling at Nelson and Colne College’s award-winning catering school. He combined his studies with working at The Alma Inn and was offered a full-time chef’s position after leaving college.
His hard work, passion for creating new dishes and commitment to the venue lead to him being offered the head chef’s position nearly four years ago.
“My brother worked at The Alma as a waiter and helped me to get a job in the kitchen, and I haven’t looked back since,” said Jordan.
“I’m really pleased with how my career has progressed over the past 12 years and with some of the exciting dishes I’ve helped to develop for the menus and prepare for customers. I’ve lost count of how many trio of beef dishes – a firm Alma favourite – I’ve served over the years, but I love preparing each dish as much as the first.”
To celebrate Jordan’s anniversary, he has selected some of his favourite creations from the past 12 years to form a special menu, which will be served from Friday 21st July to Sunday 23rd July. The menu includes king scallops benedict, fillet steak pie and rhubarb crème brûlée.
“Chefs often have a reputation for moving from job to job, but Jordan has shown fantastic commitment to the Alma Inn,” said Antony Shirley, executive chef at the Seafood Pub Company, which owns The Alma Inn.
“He’s a fantastic chef who is equally at home with creating dishes for our daily specials menu or preparing wedding banquets and exclusive menus for people who choose to celebrate their special occasions at The Alma. He’s built a fantastic team in the kitchen and we’d all like to congratulate him on his long service and look forward to working with him for many more years to come.”
Jordan’s special three-course menu featuring some of his favourite dishes is available at The Alma Inn from Friday 21st July to Sunday 23rd July. It is £30 per person, including a glass of Prosecco on arrival. To make a booking, please call 01282 857830.
