Famous gardening celebrities all set for Chorley Flower Show
TWO of the most well-known names in the horticultural world are set for Chorley after organisers announced they would be making special appearances at Chorley Flower Show (29 -30 July).
Hundreds of people have already booked their tickets for the Chorley Council-run event, which will see Gardeners’ World presenter Carol Klein and garden designer, broadcaster, and author Chris Beardshaw carry out gardening demonstrations and taking part in a question and answer session.
Carol Klein is no stranger to the Chorley Flower Show, having appeared in 2016 and is returning due to popular demand, whilst Chris Beardshaw will be making his first appearance and is sure to be a popular choice amongst amateur gardeners.
Gary Hall, Chief Executive of Chorley Council, said: “We’re delighted to have two prestigious names from the horticultural world taking part in the show and it will be an opportunity for people to meet them both.
“The celebrities have been a big draw the last couple of years so we took the opportunity to see who people would like to see when asking for feedback on last year’s show. Both Carol and Joe were the most popular suggestions and I’m delighted they’re both able to attend the show.
“I’m sure there are lots of keen gardeners out there who have always wanted some hints and tips so if you find yourself with a burning question make sure you come along and put it to one of our celebrities.”
Chris will be attending on the Saturday and is very well known from his long broadcasting career, which to date spans 16 years and includes BBC2 television hit television series such as Gardeners’ World, Hidden Gardens and the hugely popular The Flying Gardener, amongst many others. He is also heard by millions on the weekly BBC Radio 4 Gardeners’ question Time panel where he faces a live audience of gardening enthusiasts.
Carol, who is attending on the Sunday, is most famous for her role as a regular presenter of Gardeners’ World and her down-to-earth approach has made her a popular and trusted figure. She has exhibited at many shows herself with gold medals at Chelsea, Hampton Court and Westminster and has also written gardening books and is a columnist for Garden News, making her one of the most familiar gardening experts.
“It is great profile for Chorley and the flower show to have two people who are well-known off the television and it was standing room only in the Gardening Theatre last year,” said Gary Hall
“Not only will it be a chance to see some famous faces from the gardening world they will be at the show to pass on some of their skills and knowledge as well as take part in an open question and answer panel.”
If you are interested in gardening it promises to be a fantastic weekend with some of the best exhibitors in the country entering the show, alongside two prestigious amateur competitions taking place over the weekend.
Wristbands are now on sale priced £7 adults (£7 on the gate), £12 weekend pass (Advance Only), £1.50 children (£2 on the gate), £15 for a family ticket (£20 on the gate) and parking will be free. You can also gain entry with seven time credits per day and there are special rates for groups of more than 20.
