Hotel scheme wins planning on Blackpool Promenade
Plans for a new hotel development on one of Blackpool’s most prominent town centre sites have been passed by resort planners.
The Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP) has won planning consent for a new 96 room hotel on the Promenade near to the Tower.
The high-profile hotel, designed by the Preston-based chief architects and master-planners, will deliver a conservation area sensitive scheme to be built on one of the Prom’s most popular sites.
The new Sands Hotel replaces the former Palatine Hotel, a 96 bedroom Victorian building demolished in the 1970s.
David Robinson, managing partner at FWP, says: “This is another successful planning application by the FWP team working across all disciplines.
“We look forward to realising this important redevelopment plan and expect work to begin by the summer.
“The new Sands Hotel will be a valuable addition to Blackpool and will have a real commercial, economic and architectural benefit to the town and surrounding areas.
“The large penthouse suites on the corner aspects of the hotel will provide stunning views out over the promenade and the Irish Sea making the Sands Venue Resort and Hotel a real destination point for tourism in Blackpool.”
