Listen to ghostly tales at Lancaster Castle

10 October 2016

Lancaster Castle is raising the curtain on the production 'Ghostly Tales' later this month.

The storytelling performance will take place on Friday 21 October and Saturday 22 October at 7.30pm.

Excerpts from the work of 20th century British female writers, Edith Nesbit, Elizabeth Bowen, Elizabeth Jane Howard and Jeanette Winterson, will be read by actors from Demi-Paradise Productions, at the event.

Demi-Paradise Productions is Lancaster Castle's resident professional theatre company, set up in 2000 by actor and part – time castle guide, Stephen Tomlin.

County Councillor Marcus Johnstone, Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for environment, planning and cultural services, said: "I have no doubt that this will be an entertaining evening of storytelling, in the run up to Halloween.

"The event is dedicated to the work of four celebrated authors of modern ghost stories. The audience will be able to listen to some of their work, and hopefully really enjoy the magic of age-old storytelling, with a ghostly theme.

"To add to the atmosphere, the show will be performed in four different locations in Lancaster Castle."

Tickets for the performances cost £8 for adults and £6.50 for concessions and children.

Ticket numbers are limited so booking is essential. To book a ticket, to find out about opening times or for more information phone 01524 64998 or call in at the castle shop between 9.30am to 4.30pm.

This venue is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users and disability access is limited. It is also not suitable for visitors under 11.
