Half term fun at Hoghton Tower
The half term holidays at Hoghton Tower look to be jam packed with fun and engaging activities for all.
The weekend Sunday 29th and Monday 30th sees the Tower transformed to Whitsun Weekend 1482. Meet the tradesmen/household members of Sir John Savile’s Household and The Beaufort Companye. The Duke of Gloucester has sent a commissioner of Array to inspect the soldiers/men at arms of the Household. He is planning a campaign against the Scots and needs to know that the men who fight for him are well arrayed and skilled in the arts of war. Gates open 10am – 5pm £6 adults and £4 children admission charge to the grounds.
On Tuesday 31st May and Wednesday 1st June you can take a family friendly tour around the house. Get dressed up as princesses or knights and join our guides as they take you around the house telling you stories of the people who lived and worked here. Tours are at 12pm and 2pm, £5 per person.
On Wednesday 1st June we have Tai Chi workshops on our wilderness garden Lawn! Practice yang style Tai Chi with UCLan Confucius Institute. Witness the extraordinary skills of 3 times Chinese national Tai Chi champion Master ZHANG Ying. Come along and discover the benefits of practicing this gentle internal martial art. 11am – 1pm with workshops every half hour. £2 per person.
In the afternoon on Wednesday we have Arts with Mandy 2pm – 3pm and 3pm – 4pm. Workshops will take a walk around the grounds or house for inspiration, before turning your hand at some art of your own inspired by what you see. £2 per session per person.
General Manager, James Dean says “We try to make the half term holidays as diverse as possible, this week you can do anything from 15th Century living, to Tai Chi, to getting your hands covered in glitter and glue! There is something for everyone this half term at Hoghton Tower!”
