Johnny Comes to Leighton
“Here’s Johnny” are not the words one would not normally associate with a historic house, but for one night only Leighton Hall in Carnforth will host a screening of “The Shining” from which these immortal words come.
A huge cinema screen will be erected in front of Leighton Hall on 31st July and visitors are invited to party in the grounds and gardens before settling down to watch Jack Nicholson at his most sinister, in Stanley Kubrick’s cult movie.
Designed to put a chill down the spine of even the most hardened horror fan, this open air cinema experience gives film lovers a truly memorable night out.
Revellers are invited to dress up, take part in an 80’s quiz, party with a retro disco from 7:30 and enjoy their picnics and drinks, before the film starts at dusk (approx 9:30pm).
Suzie Reynolds, Owner of Leighton Hall explained “The picnic cinema is a truly unique experience. Gates open at 7:30 and as the name suggests, we encourage the audience to bring food and drink and really make a night of it. The film doesn’t start until later, so the atmosphere will really suit the scary nature of the film. Whilst The Shining is one of the most iconic classic horrors of the last 30 years, I probably won’t be watching it unless it’s from behind a cushion!”
The Picnic Cinema is strictly for over 18’s only. Camping is available for film goers and this event is the only opportunity to camp in Leighton’s gardens all year. Campers are welcome from 5:30pm. Wrap up warm and bring your own seating.
Ticket prices are £15 film only or £25 to include camping overnight in the gardens. Tickets available now! There’s is an early bird booking discount of 20% off, if booked before 30th June.
