Have your say on skills issues!
Marketing Lancashire, Lancashire County Council and the Lancashire Local Enterprise Partnership would like to invite you to take part in a focus group about current and future skills needs facing your business and the wider visitor economy in which you operate.
This focus group is an important part of a project being undertaken to develop a Skills Action Plan for the visitor economy in Lancashire. This plan, when implemented, will help to address skills gaps and skills shortages that are preventing some local businesses in the visitor economy from growing and achieving their full potential. The plan will go live in mid 2015 and will support wider activity being progressed to develop a new Visitor Economy Strategy for Lancashire.
You have been identified by Marketing Lancashire as a company whose input into this process would be very valuable and we therefore hope that you are able to accept the invitation. The details are as follows:
Date: Thursday 23 April 2015
Time: 10.00am – 11.30am (refreshments available from 9.30am)
Location: Stanley House Hotel & Spa, Preston New Road, Mellor, BB2 7NP
The session will be facilitated by consultants from ekosgen – the company that has been appointed to develop the Skills Action Plan. They will ask attendees about the skills issues that they face now, those they expect to face in the future and the effects that this could have on the businesses in question. Attendees will be issued with a briefing paper in advance to help set the scene for the discussions.
Key issues arising through the session will be presented back to a project Steering Group which includes leading sector representatives from further and higher education alongside the visitor economy across Lancashire, including Blackpool.
We are very confident that this project presents a real opportunity to make inroads into some of the most pressing skills issues affecting the visitor economy in Lancashire. As such, your participation would be greatly appreciated.
