Countryside Comes to Town will mean Blackburn is busy by nature
The full details of Blackburn BID's Midsummer Festival have been released online showing the full extent of the programme of activities taking place from Darwen Street to Sudell Cross.
A FarmVille style map for the Blackburn BID’s Countryside Comes to Town event turns the town into a series of fields showing key landmark buildings reveals how the town centre will be transformed. Theatre, music, dance and live animals and insects are part of the line-up of nature themed activities including a petting farm and a 30 foot giant inflatable pig. Children are encouraged to come along dressed as creatures or change at an insect transformation offering wings, facepaints and antennae on the day. Farmers market stalls will fill Church Street and King William Street with street theatre and entertainment throughout the day. Blackburn Cathedral will be staging a summer fair, where there will be vintage tractors and pony rides along with the farm. The afternoon culminates in an Ugly Bug Ball event hosted by CBeebies star, Mr Bloom who will be hosting a meet and greet in The Mall where there are free hat making activities all day.
52,000 copies of the Countryside Comes to Town brochure and map will be distributed across the county by the Blackburn BID, as part of a multimedia marketing campaign aimed at increasing footfall and encouraging newcomers to the town to witness the regeneration and change their perceptions.
