Stay the night in Longridge’s only AA four star rated accommodation

Just six months after opening its doors to guests, a Thornley gastro pub is celebrating achieving prestigious industry recognition for its accommodation.

The Derby Arms in Thornley, Longridge reopened in summer 2014 following an extensive refurbishment by owners the Seafood Pub Company.

The village pub and destination restaurant was redesigned using traditional oak, flags, slate and steel six guest bedrooms were created.

Following an unannounced recent stay in one of the elegant country bedrooms, an AA inspector awarded the site a must sought after four star rating.

“We are delighted that the company’s first venture into accommodation has been rewarded by an outstanding grading from the AA’s hotel inspection team,” said Seafood Pub Company managing director Joycelyn Neve. “The AA has a very stringent inspection process in place looking at the standard of accommodation, knowledge of staff, bookings process, restaurant services and housekeeping quality.

“We are delighted with the hard work and commitment our team at the Derby have shown over the past six months and that this has been rewarded by the AA rating. Our team are passionate about promoting the Forest of Bowland as a true UK tourism destination and as a result of this inspection we are looking forward to welcoming many new guests to the Derby and the stunning Longridge countryside.”

The Derby Arms has also received praise nationally in a review in The Guardian with columnist Tony Naylor describing the team at the Derby as “striking an accomplished balance between genuine warmth and smooth professionalism.”

AA Hotel Services have been recognising accommodation since 1908 and first introduced the star rating scheme in 1912, recognising and rewarding establishments for the quality and range of their services and facilities.
