SHOWZAM!

Blackpool has a rich history of entertainment and 2025 will see a brand-new celebration of circus, music and performance over February half term. Showzam! will bring a sprinkling of sawdust and stardust to the school holidays with a brilliant programme of events and shows for the whole family to enjoy.

COLNE WINTERBLOOM
Colne Town Centre

Head to Colne as the town lights up with the magic and mystery of WinterBloom, with a focus on the Pendle Witches story. This year’s festival transforms the town centre with an illuminated parade, celebrating folklore through light, art, and performance. As night falls, puppets, large-scale lanterns, and musicians bring this fascinating local history to life, filling the streets with haunting sounds and captivating visuals.
A heritage building will serve as the canvas for a stunning projection, weaving together images of the past and present. Two immersive light art installations in nearby venues offer unique, intimate experiences that deepen the story of Pendle. Explore the Window Walk, where ten shop windows display art created by local schoolchildren, each piece reflecting the spirit and imagination of WinterBloom.

FYLDE ICE FESTIVAL
St Annes, Lancashire

The free Fylde Ice Festival returns for 2025!
After hugely successful events in Lytham in 2023 and in Kirkham in 2024 this year, this enchanting day-long festival takes place in St Annes. Come marvel at the breathtaking carved sculptures, try out your own sculpting skills on the ice carving wall, and watch a live ice-carving demonstration by award-winning professional ice artists Glacial Art.
The Fylde Ice Festival 2025 will take place in St Annes town centre on Saturday 15 February, from 10am – 4pm, subject to weather conditions.

FOREST OF BOWLAND DARK SKIES FESTIVAL

Wrap up warm and enjoy stargazing in the heart of the Lancashire countryside or learn more about the universe and what we can see from Lancashire, in the actual geographic centre of the British Isles. The Dark Skies Festival celebrates all things skyward, and features talks and events with scientist and amateur astronomer Robert Ince.
Designated Dark Sky locations across the country, are places that provide excellent visibility of our night skies due to lower light pollution; where stargazers can expect to find the best places to enjoy beautiful starry nights during their stay. The Forest of Bowland, as well as being a Dark Sky location, is also famous for being part of the Duchy of Lancaster’s Estate and one of the UK’s acclaimed National Landscapes.
Events confirmed for 2025 so far include talks from Preston & District Astronomical Society, guided visits to an observatory and a family friendly painting session. Accessible nighttime walks through Gisburn Forest, storytelling sessions and other talks are expected as part of the event.

MUDFEST 2025
WWT Martin Mere, Burscough Lancashire
15th – 23rd February 2025
Get stuck in with a mud obstacle course, mud kitchen, wild crafts, and mud kitchen.
With hands-on activities for all ages and abilities, everyone can connect with nature and discover the magical powers of mud for wildlife and play. After all, it’s the stuff wetlands (and great family adventures) are made of. Go mad for mud activities: Jump between obstacles or climb your way through a mud-tastic obstacle course. Visit the craft room for some clay modelling, creating a worm, and making seed bombs. Cook up some delicious muddy meals in the mud kitchen. See what sculptures you can make out of mud. Can you make an otter, or maybe a mallard?
There’s a fantastic day ahead of you at Martin Mere Wetland Centre, getting up-close-and-personal with some of nature’s most wonderful wildlife in the 800 acres of adventure which is home to thousands of rare birds; a cheeky family of otters; an all-star cast of pretty pink flamingos and a group of white storks to mention a few.

SUPERHERO SHOWDOWN
Affinity Lancashire, Fleetwood, Lancashire

Get ready for a week of FREE super events this February half term at Affinity Lancashire in Fleetwood, with their Superhero Showdown! From superhero meet and greets, to workshops, Superhero Hunts and even the chance to dress up in your best SUPER Suit for their Super Silent Disco, there’s something to keep the whole family entertained. On Saturday 15th Captain America and Captain Marvel will be appearing at the centre throughout the day with free face painting between 11am and 4pm. Then on Monday 17th And Friday 21st guests can take part in the free Superhero Hunt for the chance to win a super prize. On Tuesday 18th visitors can get creative at the Chocolate Superhero Wrapper Workshop, then on Wednesday 19th Batman will be flying in with appearances, and you can get a free super glitter tattoo. On Thursday 20th why not get dressed in in your favourite super costume for the super Silent Disco? Finally on Saturday 22nd it’s Spiderman Day with appearances by Spidey himself. You’ll also get the chance to make a Super Spiderman craft at the Super Little Cod Club inside Captain Cod’s Club House.

Baylight ‘25
Morecambe, Lancashire

One of the newest, but most impactful light shows to hit the Lancashire coastline, 2025 will see Baylight festival return to Morecambe’s seafront. The inaugural event attracted the crowds, despite the weather and bore witness to a fantastic parade down the promenade. 2025 promises to be bigger and better, with light installations from around the world taking pride of place over the Lancashire coast.
While in the area you can take advantage of great attractions offering fun for all the family, including bowling at Soul Bowl, trampolining at Jump Rush and outdoor fun at Happy Mount Park. Nearby Lancaster offers great heritage days out too with Lancaster Castle and interactive museums like The Maritime Museum, Judges Lodgings and more, as well as fantastic places to eat, walk and shop.
