Eight at Gazegill is a finalist in the Countryside Alliance Awards
Gazegill Organics are delighted to announce that Eight at Gazegill has been shortlisted to win a Countryside Alliance Award in the Rural Enterprise category.
The Awards are the Countryside Alliance’s annual celebration of British food & farming, enterprise and heritage through our small hard-working businesses. The Awards are now in their eighteenth year and have become the definitive rural business award to win. They are set apart from other award schemes because they are driven by public nomination, offering customers the chance to tell us why their favourite businesses are worthy of national acclaim. The Awards received thousands of nominations this year so Eight at Gazegill has done extremely well to be a finalist.
Located on and owned by Gazegill Organics Farm in Rimington, near Gisburn in Lancashire, Eight at Gazegill offers a distinctive dining experience focused on showcasing the best produce from the farm and enhancing it with wild, seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients and innovative cooking. With its charming ambiance and commitment to sustainability, the fine dining purpose-built restaurant provides a perfect countryside setting for food lovers looking to explore the best of British cuisine and aims to be a foodie destination for discerning diners.
Countryside Alliance Awards Director Sarah Lee commented: “We have been overwhelmed by nominations this year. The secret to the Rural Oscars’ popularity is that they honour the people involved in these businesses and not just their produce or services. They exist to sing the praises of those who work hard to keep our communities and rural economy ticking, but don’t seek the spotlight. These awards provide a cause for celebration in a time of great uncertainty in the countryside. Our local produce is second to none and there are many community heroes and businesses worthy of national recognition.”
Regarding the nomination, Chef Patron of Eight at Gazegill, Doug Crampton said: “I’m so proud of the whole team for this recognition, especially within our first year of trading. It shows our commitment to offering a unique dining experience, that champions British produce and encourages guests to connect with the land. It would, of course, be an amazing honour to win, but we are also really passionate about connecting with our competitors in the category as we obviously share similar values and aspirations for our region.”
Winners will be chosen via a public vote which opens in March and the winners will be announced in April. The winners will then go on and represent their region in the final at the House of Lords in the national champions reception in June.
