Lancashire Day celebrated at Burnley town hall

Proud Burnley ‘ambassadors’ gathered at the town hall to fly the flag for the Red Rose county on national Lancashire Day.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Burnley, Cllr Andy and Mrs Lorna Tatchell, together with council officers, Miss Burnley Chloe Ingham, Burnley Youth MP Connor Wold and representatives from The Royal British Legion also shared positive things about the town and the county over a cup of tea.

The Mayor said: “As a proud Lancastrian, I think it is important to celebrate the long history of heritage of Lancashire as a county and I’d like to encourage everyone to take part in marking this national day.”

The group photo taken outside the town hall was sent over to Marketing Lancashire for their recently launched social media campaign, asking Lancastrians to share images that best illustrate the Visit Lancashire strap line #WhereLifeFeelsGood.

The campaign will run throughout the month until Sunday, 30th November, and will be a showcase of everything that’s ‘feelgood’ about Lancashire, revealed through a gallery on VisitLancashire.com uploaded by the public via Facebook, Flickr and Twitter.

A panel of judges will choose a winner whose image captures the essence of our picturesque, life-enhancing and diverse county. The winner will receive a fabulous prize of an *Overnight Tasting Break for Two at Northcote, **A Year’s Supply of Dewlay Lancashire Cheese and A Year Subscription to Lancashire Life.

Lancashire Day dates back to 1295, when the county sent its first representatives to Parliament. This marked Lancashire's move into the wider sphere of politics.
