South Ribble Council launches corporate strategy
The recently agreed strategy maps out how the council will support residents and drive the borough’s economy forward, focusing on healthy and happy communities where there are opportunities for everyone.
The council also commits to green and clean neighbourhoods and being an exemplary council that delivers high performing services and provides value for money.
Some key aims of the strategy are to:
- Support residents to have positive mental health
- Provide support and easy access to services for all who need them when they need them
- Ensure people have access to jobs and training
- Support business and to invest in improving the borough
- Help to protect the local environment
- Provide good quality, affordable housing
- Understand the community and to work with partners to make things better
Councillor Jacky Alty, Leader of South Ribble Borough Council said, “Our new Corporate Strategy builds upon the significant work that we already undertake, setting out priorities and projects to ensure that we meet the evolving needs of our communities.
“Through the delivery of this Corporate Strategy, we will foster thriving communities. We will provide support when needed, encourage people to improve their own lives and the lives of others while recognising the gifts they individually offer to the communities in which they live.
“Our strategic priorities are aligned with the government’s mission to deliver change. We are committed to being flexible in how we plan, deliver, and achieve our vision, and we will keep our corporate projects under review to respond to any changes to priorities.”
Key projects expecting to launch or continue into the next year are:
- The launch of Jubilee Gardens, the flagship extra care scheme for over 55s
- The development of phase two of the Leyland Town Deal
- Leisure centre improvements
- Delivery of the Penwortham Masterplan
- Development of commercial, cultural, and housing strategies
