Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) is celebrating news that two of the winners of the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Awards 2010 and England’s Northwest Tourism Awards, have now reached the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence the ‘tourism Oscars’ which will take place on Friday 15 April at Birmingham University’s Great Hall.
Lancashire’s two finalists are Clough Bottom Farm Cottages, Bashall Eaves, Clitheroe for Sustainable Tourism and Morecambe Visitor Information Centre, for Tourist Information Service.
“This is a significant achievement for the county and we are especially happy to have finalists in these particular categories” said Mike Wilkinson, LBTB Chief Executive
“In 2010 following extensive research and development we launched the new Lancashire brand Lancashire – Where Life Feels Good. In these two finalists we see many of the characteristics identified as Lancashire’s unique offer such as genuine warmth, traditional quality and unpretentiousness – which give our visitors those ‘feel-good’ emotions, sometimes missing from everyday life. Their excellence in the fields of sustainable tourism and visitor welcome show our commitment as a destination, to the well-being of our visitors and our consideration for Lancashire’s spectacular countryside. ”
Clough Bottom Farm Cottages will be up against The Battlesteads, Northumberland, RED Hotels, Cornwall and The Cavendish, London. Morecambe Visitor Information Centre will be hoping to triumph over Durham City, Gloucester and Winchester Tourist Information Centres.
