This website is run by Marketing Lancashire we believe in access to information over the Internet for all. We have designed our website so that the information and resources provided can be used by people of all abilities and disabilities. We are working hard to ensure that this site is as accessible as possible.

We aim to conform to the WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the whole site meets this, it is an ongoing process and some content may not yet reach the standards in all areas. This Accessibility Statement provides an overview of the accessibility features we have implemented on this website.

For example, that means you should be able to:

Use Access Keys – We have provided the following shortcut keys to aid navigation.

– Access Key 1 – Home Page

– Access Key 2 – Main Contents

This site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) so that you may customise the presentation to suit your preferences.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Marketing Lancashire is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).

We plan to add text alternatives for all images by December 2020. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Disproportionate burden

PDFs and other documents

Many of our older PDFs and Word documents do not meet accessibility standards – for example, they may not be structured so they’re accessible to a screen reader. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

Live video streams do not have captions. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.2.4 (captions – live). We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Pre-recorded time-based media

Pre-recorded time based media added to the site prior to 23rd September 2020 don’t have captions or audio descriptions. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.2.3 (Audio Description or Media Alternative (Pre-recorded). We plan to update these in due course.

Online maps

We will try and ensure online maps are as accessible as possible, but online maps are currently exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
