Colne retailer’s heartwarming #shoplocal Christmas video
Many small businesses and retailers were devastated to hear the Government’s announcement of the need to close their doors for the month of November. For so many, November being the busiest and most profitable month for them in the lead up to Christmas.
Agonising over how their business could possibly survive another lockdown, owner of Chosen by Jessica in Colne, Lancashire, Adam Jones says “We were not going to go down without a fight so we launched our own #shoplocal video campaign to drive out the important message of supporting local businesses this Christmas. We have managed to expand the Chosen by Jessica website and can now offer our loyal customers the facility to buy online through our ‘click & collect’ service
Inspired by the festive John Lewis adverts, the Chosen by Jessica team decided to have a go themselves and filmed a last minute original poem in their store – a heartfelt appeal to their customers and the people of Colne and Lancashire. To encourage everyone to support small businesses everywhere and #shoplocal this November.
After visiting the shop to start his Christmas shopping before it had to close its doors, Local MP Andrew Stephenson posted on his Facebook page “This year it’s more important than ever that we support our local shops and retailers. They really need our support to make sure they can survive a second period of enforced closure.”
Chosen by Jessica opened in 2018 and remains a real family business. Run by Adam and his wife Jessica (with the first Chosen by Jessica baby due in Spring!) they employ other family members and friends. The charming shop features a beautiful selection of Christmas décor, home accessories, furniture and clothing that has made Chosen by Jessica so popular with its local customers in the centre of Colne, Lancashire.
