Lancashire has it all
Whether you want to spend an afternoon flying a kite on the beach, a day exploring some new walking routes, or a weekend discovering the charms of our cities or experiencing the excitement of Blackpool, Lancashire offers it all.
We are a destination with an incredibly varied tourism industry, with attractions and places to visit that suit all tastes, and especially taste buds. Traditional coastal cafes, the best countryside inns and Michelin star dining at Northcote in Langho, near Blackburn, Moor Hall in picture postcard Aughton, West Lancashire and The White Swan in Fence, Burnley.
There’s also a superb retail offer with cities and towns like Blackburn, Clitheroe, Lancaster, Ormskirk and Preston providing a great mix of the big names with a thriving independent business scene run by locals passionate about what they sell and the areas in which they live.
Lancastrians are known for their friendliness and warmth, but also for their spirit and determination. This is a county not afraid to roll up its sleeves and get stuck in. We are grafters, but it is easier to work hard when you know that the opportunities to unwind are endless.

Although cost of living is low, quality of life is high, with Burnley being named the friendliest town in Britain, Ribble Valley the UK’s happiest place and South Ribble the best place to live for people in their twenties.
Being 80% rural, Lancashire also benefits from each town and city being no more than 10 minutes from the countryside, bringing the health and wellbeing advantages with it. Lancashire was voted the number three destination for health and wellbeing.
The diverse landscape also provides an abundance of local produce, it is said Lancashire is the county that can feed itself.
