Leighton Celebrates 20 Years of Classic Cars this July
Surely the best way to kick the summer holidays into glorious gear is roaring along to a very special 20th anniversary show, showcasing the best in historic and classic motoring!
Home to the legendary Gillow furniture making family, Carnforth’s Leighton Hall, usually famed for woodturning rather than wheel spinning, is celebrating hosting one of the most beautifully staged shows in the classic car calendar for two rip roaring decades.
Set against the backdrop of the Lake District fells, on Saturday 7th July over 500 classic cars, motorcycles, vans, 4x4s and military vehicles will be roaring through the glorious park.
Kicking off the summer holidays in top gear, there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained at the historic family home. Motoring enthusiasts can swap tips over the triple-wax at an array of club displays and browse plentiful trade stands and the ever-popular auto-jumble for bargains, tools and parts.
When it’s time to put the brakes on, everyone can sit and relax, to highlights of the classic car world with full arena displays and commentary throughout the day. Private classic cars are warmly invited along, so shine up your classic and show it off in the midsummer sunshine.
The hall’s many attractions make it a fun packed day out for the whole family. Leighton Hall is famous for its stunning furniture and objets d’art, yet is also very much a lived in family home where nothing is ‘roped off’. Explore inside, with house tours running from 1pm, for a small charge.
There is also plenty to keep Mini-visitors motoring amongst the children’s playground, caterpillar maze, and tree face trail; and the charming tearoom is perfect for a vintage pit stop and refuel.
Located 10 minutes’ drive from junction 35 of the M6, and well-signposted, the show runs from 10am-4pm. At just £7 per adult and £2.50 for children, entrance includes admission to the nineteenth-century walled garden and woodland walks; and with over 80 acres of parkland, well behaved dogs are warmly welcome, too!
Organiser Mark Woodward says; “Leighton Hall is such a stunning location to see filled by exhibitors and visitors every year- I can’t believe it’s our 20th! I’m proud to say that thanks to the generosity of our visitors, every year this event also raises money for a brilliant local charity, the North West Air Ambulance.”
